Richard has 20+ years of experience developing analyses and models to forecast and measure market size, growth, returns, and risks. He specializes in leading teams that apply macroeconomic analysis and advanced analytics to drive value-creating investment, operational, risk management, and corporate/business strategy decisions. He was recently the Director and the Head of Advanced Analytics and Economics within HP Inc.'s Corporate Strategy function. He led a global team of economists, data engineers, data scientists, and industry analysts specializing in commercial & consumer technology (hardware and services) to deliver accurate forecasts of technology market size, growth & trends, driving efficient and profitable operational and strategic decisions.
Before joining HP Inc., he had a short stint running his consulting practice, where he developed reports and analyses to assist small businesses with site location and business expansion strategies. Previously, he served as a Senior Vice President and Head of Macroeconomic Research and Strategy at Hartford Investment Management Company (HIMCO), the asset management arm of The Hartford. Richard joined HIMCO in 2007 and played a crucial role in developing portfolio and single-name quantitative credit risk management models, as well as providing risk and pricing analysis to guide the company through the volatile period that followed the global financial crisis.
Richard started his career at Credit Suisse - HOLT as a Senior Quantitative Analyst. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago, with a specialization in economic growth/development, applied econometrics, and financial mathematics. His Ph.D. dissertation focuses on credit risk modeling and the impact of catastrophic risks on financial portfolios, physical capital investments, and insurance decisions. He is a dynamic and enthusiastic thinker who thrives in innovating ideas and driving value for organizations through data analytics.
Adept at solving current organizational problems and challenges, achieving strategic objectives with limited resources and tight deadlines, identifying potential future issues, and proactively determining and implementing optimal value-impacting solutions. Extensive experience solving novel problems under ambiguous and uncertain conditions.
